Basic of Photoshop - Step by Step tutorial.

In this tutorial I will be showing you the basics of Photoshop .This tutorial   are categories into following categories –

• Introduction.
• Basic tools.
• Layer,Style,Group.
• Color,Shape,Text.

Introduction

Photoshop is a professional image editing software .It is useful for both creating, editing images to be in printing or online. It is very easy to use, full of high quality feature; it is a best choice for any image manipulation job. It is very useful graphics designing, web mock-ups photography creative professional, adding affects, digital and scanned image can edit. It contain unique variety of tool among which brush ,management, light room photo access, brush smoothing , curvature pen, colors ,group layering.

Basics tools

I will be going over the basics tools. You will need to know to get started on Photoshop. The basics tools contain small set of tools. It contain mode, zoom, hand, quick , selection , eye ,whiten teeth, spot, healing, crop, brush and move.

  Move tool: This tool can be use to move the items.  

   Marquee: This tool can be used to make selection. There are four different types are as         follow –

·         Rectangle: This will make a rectangle shape.

·         Single column: This will make column sections.

·         Elliptical: This will make elliptical section.

·         Single row : This will make row selection

Lasso: These tools can use to make selections. There are three different types like –

•            Lasso: This will make free hand selection.
•           Polygonal lasso: This will make selection with lines.
• ·          Magnetic lasso: This will make selection by shaping onto objects.

Quick selection: This tools can be use to make of object by painting on them, with an adjustment brush.

Crop: This tool can be use to trim image.

Brush tool: This tool can be use for paints brush stroke.

Eraser: This tool can be use to erase pixel of an image.

Pencil tool: This tool can be use for paints hard edge stroke.

Gradients tool: This tool can be use to make a straight line, angle, reflected, radial, diamond blends between colors.

Pen: This tool can be use to create smooth edged paths. You can also use free pen to create free-handed paths.

Paint bucket: This tool can be use to fill similar colored area with the foreground color.

Type: This tool can be use to create a text box which can be used to type text into image.

Shape tool: This tool can be use to create shapes. There are six different types of shape tool are as follows –

•          Rectangle.
•          Ellipse.
•          Rounded rectangle.
•          Polygon.
•          Line.
•          Custom shape

Hand: This tool can be use to move an image within the window.

Zoom: This tool can be use to zoom in and out.

Create new documents or projects by using Ctrl +N or Files >Open > enter.

Layers, layers styles and Groups:

Layers are very useful in Photoshop each layers is an individual means you can edit it without editing any of other layers.It is transparent panels of glass stacked on top most of one other ,which allow different part of each layers.Layer gives you amazing amount of control,flexibility because you can edit layers independently ,the layer are divide into two main categories :

Content layers: This layer contains different types of content, like Photography, Text, and Shape.
Adjustment layer: This layer contains different types of adjustment layers like Saturation, Brightness. It is non-destructive type layer because they don’t actually change anything about their original image.

•  Clicking the eye icons in the layer the effects are turn off and on mode.
•   You can view create, and edit layers with layers panel .They are found in lower right      corner of the screen, You can also using Window > Layers.
•   You can also customize the adjustment in the Properties panel.
•  You can delete layer by using select the layer and press delete key.
• You also click and drag the layer to trash can in lower corner of the layer panel.

How to create duplicate layer?

•  If you want to create duplicate layers, then right click the layers then select Duplicate layer.  A dialog box will appear.
•  Click OK the duplicate layers will appear.
•  Select layer before editing, otherwise, the wrong layer might be edited.
•     If you want to edit text layer, then double click the layer icon in layer panel. You can also change the text, fonts, text size, modify and colors.

Create new guides by using view >new guide.  It contains three vertical and three horizontal guides.

How to create group and link layers?

•          Select multiple layers in the layers panel.
•          Choose layer >group layer.
•          To ungroup the layers ,select  the group and choose layer >ungroup layers

Link layer:

•  Select the layer or group in the layers panel.  
• Click the link icon bottom of the layers panel.

Layers style:

•  Select your desired layer in layer panel
• Choose layers >layers style and choose an effect from sub menu
•  Select the preview check box in top –right of dialog box so, you can see your effect while you apply them
• To accept the default setting, and click OK. 

Colors, Shapes, Text:

How to add colors shape?

To change or fill the color in Photoshop by following ways:

·         Open layer panel by choosing window >layer.

·         To change a shape color, double clicking the color thumbnails on the left in the shape layers.

·         Click the set color box on option bar across the top of the window and color picker appears.

How to add text in image?

•   Select the type tool from palette .Set your setting using top of the menu at top of the        screen like –Font, Font size, Font alignment, Font color.
•   Click on the specific place where you want to add text in Photoshop
•  Click and drag with the text tool and click outside the box or press CTRL and enter           key   simultaneously and see the final appearance.

How to create text effect?

•  Click and hold the text icon in toolbar .It contain four type tools like:   Horizontal,          Vertical type tool, Horizontal type mask, Vertical type mask.               
•  You can  also use Paragraph and Character menu to change line, spacing options.
• Right click on text and choose Blending options and it’s contain variety of effects            like: Bevel & Emboss, Stroke, Overlap, Drop shadow. 

Filter and its effects:

Filter effect consist of series of graphic operations it is one of easiest and most popular function its allow user to manipulate image by clicking of mouse.

Go to Filter>Filter gallery .They are divided into following:

·         Adjustment filter: This filter includes color pencil , paint daubs, smudge sticks water color. If you use this filter your image look like it was created by an artist.

·         Distort filter: This filter includes ocean, ripple, glass, spherize, wave, and zigzag.

·         Texture filter: This filter includes grains, stained glass and patch work. It allows you to manipulate.

·         Stylize filter: This filter includes embossing, diffusing, extruding, solarising, finding the edge .It allow you to create you image stunting and stylize.

·         Sketch filter: This filter includes chalk, charcoal, graphic, pen, plaster, stamp and water paper .It allow you to create image like sketch group.

Transformation and Retouching:

It is very special tools offer some most basic fundamental  ways to modify your image and designs  by using by using  command edit > transform .It allow  you to sketch your image, blend it ,manipulate flip it  and much more. If you transform image by following ways:

·         Select an image and change the background to a layer.

·         Use the wrap tool to manipulate the image shape. It contain: scales, rotate, skew, distort, perspective, wrap and much more.

 By Using free transform options:

·         Turn on free transform tools edit >free transform. Click and hold the cursor on handle

·          You can hold shift and drag scale and hold Ctrl +shift and drag to skew.

·          You can hold Ctrl + Alt +Shift and drag the perspective.

Retouching:  

                            

Retouching is a special type of tool it allows you to removing blemishes, brightening teeth, smoothing skin. The Photoshop contain followings retouching tools like: Clone stamp, pattern stamp, healing, brush, patch and color replacement.

•  Choose the tool from toolbar
•  Set the color replacement, stamp, pattern stamp and much more which will be used,       it shows in your image.
•   Click OK and see your image look.

Blending  mode and style :

 Blending mode is the way to blend pixel of   image with each other to get different types of effects.  It   is work all places like painting tools, layer tools, smart tools, and other places in Photoshop. The layer mode also happen to be the most commonly use in blending mode. The blending mode is separated into six groups like:

·         Normal: In this mode no special bending takes place, only opacity effects. It includes Normal, dissolve mode.

·         Darken: In this mode create darkness of image, white is invisible in this layer. It includes Darken, Multiple; Color burn, Linear, Darken color.

·         Lighten: In this mode create lightness of image, black is invisible on the blend layer. It includes Lighten, Screen, Color dodge, Liner dodge, Light color.

·         Contrast: In this mode its increase contrast.50 %, gray is invisible on the blend layer.

·         Comparative : In this mode difference between image apparent , It includes Overlay,  Soft ,Hard, Vivid, Linear ,Pin,  mix light.

·         Color: In this mode its work on different color quality. It includes Hue, Saturation, Color, and Luminosity.

Use blending mode:

            By using blending mode you need at least two layers present. Select any layer and right click then, a dialog box is open it contain blending option  ,click the option and  use any blending style.

 How to apply blending mode?

•   Select the image background; select the image for whose background needs change.
•  Select any type of blend modes.
• Apply blend to the image.
